About the Rappahannock Garden Club
The Rappahannock Garden Club was founded in 1962 and is a proud member of the National Garden Club, South Atlantic Garden Club, and the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs – Piedmont District. Currently, the club has one Master Accredited Lifetime Judge. The officers are elected for two-year terms and include President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Recording Secretary, and Treasurer. Appointed officers are Corresponding Secretary, Historian, Chaplain, and Parliamentarian.
Our focus is to encourage members to participate in club activities and support the community through participation in various projects. Currently, the Rappahannock Garden Club supports various community projects, including:
* Northern Neck Free Health Clinic (NNFHC) -- Improve and maintain the NNFHC landscape for the enrichment and enjoyment of patients, volunteers and staff.
* Flower Power -- Committee meets monthly to create and deliver arrangements to patients at Rappahannock General Hospital in donated coffee mugs.
* Blue Star Memorial Garden -- RGC installed and dedicated a Blue Star Memorial Highway Marker in Lancaster Court House, Virginia on May 21, 2011. RGC continues to maintain the marker and surrounding landscape.
* YMCA Festival of Trees
RGC supports the Northern Neck YMCA Annual Festival of Trees, a fundraiser benefitting the YMCA Guardian Program, by creating a holiday wreath, tree and/or centerpieces to be auctioned at this event.
* Northern Neck Boys and Girls Club
RGC partners with the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck to encourage youth participation in horticultural activities. In support of their annual fundraising and recognition event, RGC members prepare centerpieces for approximately 40 tables.
